Business Studies & Information Technology - Level 5

Aim

This is a one year course at Post Leaving Certificate level.

It provides an introduction to the important areas of business theory and training in the relevant computer practices used in the modern office/business environment. Students may progress for further studies in this area.

Entry requirements

Students will be expected to have passed the Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied examination (Merit Level) or equivalent.

Course Duration

1 year (September - May). Monday - Friday with usual school holidays.

Course Times

9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Class finishes at1.10 pm on Wednesday.

  • Business Law

  • Spreadsheets
  • Book - Keeping (Manual & Computerised)
  • Business Admin
  • Human Resources management
  • Web Authoring
  • Entrepreneurship

Total Modules 12

Certification

Successful completion of the course will lead to a FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) Level 5 Business Studies Certificate.

Cost

Participants will be expected to cover the cost of books and exam fees.

Enrolment

A maximum of 24 participants will be taken on the course. Please complete the attached application form and submit to the school secretary.

How To Apply

Please complete the application form at the back of this brochure and submit to the school secretary with the booking fee of €20. This fee is to cover administration costs.

Places will only be allocated following a successful interview. References from school/employer will be sought. Interviews will be held in May. An information meeting will also be held in May. Applicants will be notified by post. All are welcome.
