Our U16 Boys basketball team showcased an impressive performance in the Div 3 Plate final held on January 19th. Drawing the first match of the day against Maynooth Community College, the team faced tough competition.
The initial quarter saw our boys off to a strong start, led by Captain Wilfred, who managed to score 8 consecutive layups, complemented by a splendid 3-pointer from Joseph O'Neill. However, Maynooth made a comeback in the second quarter, showcasing remarkable shots from their player in the no. 13 jersey.
As the second half unfolded, our boys recognised the need to dig deep. In the third quarter, Point Guard Paul Adjiboye delivered exceptional assists, contributing to a substantial lead. Approaching the final quarter, the team seized the opportunity to clinch victory. Demonstrating impeccable teamwork, they concluded the game with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Charles Aldeminta. The final score stood at 53-20, a well-deserved triumph for this dedicated group of players.
Throughout the day, the boys displayed outstanding camaraderie, skill, and leadership. Upon their return to the school, they were warmly welcomed by their 3rd-year peers, principal, year head, and teachers, all immensely proud of their remarkable achievements.
