Best of luck to our basketball teams that have progressed to the knockout stages of their respective cup competitions. Our squads have shown unwavering dedication, putting in countless hours of practice, and it's time to see the fruits of their labor.
The U19 boys are set to face off against Celbridge CS at home on November 15th. This tenacious group has been training diligently each day to raise their game to new heights. Beyond skills and fitness, they've discovered that having the right mindset is pivotal in basketball. Recent matches have taught them an invaluable lesson: sometimes, you gotta first learn how to lose before you learn how to win.
Our U16 boys are gearing up for an away game against Maynooth Post Primary on November 10th. Despite having played just a single match this season against a formidable Kildare Town CS team, they've moved forward in the competition, largely due to walkovers against other schools. This speaks volumes about our robust participation numbers this year. The anticipation is high as we look forward to witnessing the potential of this squad.
The U16 girls, a force to be reckoned with, have directly advanced to the semis, bypassing the quarterfinals due to their stellar performance in the group stages. Their victories over St Farnan's and Athy College stand as a testament to their prowess. They've truly been the catalyst group in the college, setting the gold standard for how basketball should be played, both on and off the court. The team now eagerly awaits the winners of the clash between Athy College and Oaklands, with the semifinal date yet to be finalized.
While the U19 girls didn't progress to the cup this year, we're optimistic that we haven't seen their last dance on the basketball court. Stay tuned for more from this talented group!
We can't emphasize enough the dedication our players, spanning from 1st to 6th year, have shown since school resumed in late August. From morning sessions to post-school practices and even turning up on days off for matches or developmental workshops, their commitment has been unparalleled. They truly embody the ethos: "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard." Here's to continued success on the court!
