This body shall be known as, “St. Conleth’s CC Parents' Association”.
Election of Committee members shall take place at the Annual General Meeting of the parents association, to be held each November. Membership shall be confined to Parents/Guardians of pupils attending the school.
The committee members shall be elected from the parent body in the school and should attend meetings regularly. The number of members may vary from time to time in order to give adequate representation. In such cases new members may be co-opted to the committee.
The committee shall elect its own officers, consisting of Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer and/or Assistant Secretary, Assistant Treasurer.
Co-options to the committee shall be *** A member of the teaching staff (who will be nominated by the school) as non voting member***
At least 4 committee meetings shall be held during the school year. Such meetings will be opened with the reading of the minutes, treasurer's report and the business of the meeting.
The signatures of the treasurer, assistant treasurer and the Principal shall be required to withdraw funds on behalf of the Association.
An extraordinary meeting of all parents can only be called;
1. On a majority decision of the committee 2. At the written request of at least twenty parents.
Amendments to the Constitution can only be made at the AGM of parents provided they are passed by a two-thirds majority.
The Association does not have a role in dealing with complaints against members of the school staff or Principal. There are existing procedures in relation to such complaints..
The aim of the Association is to strive to achieve the values outlined in our mission statement which shall include:
(a) The promotion of the educational and general welfare and social interests of the pupils of the school.
(b) Providing a link to the National Parents Council Post Primary for the parents of St Conleths CC.
(c) Keeping the parents of the pupils attending the school informed of relevant aspects of the running of the school.
(d) Acting as an advisory body, representing the views of parents on school policies and activities, and relaying their views and suggestions to the school management.
(e) Helping to make school life more complete by liaising with the student council to organise events and activities which will promote greater awareness of and respect for St. Conleth’s Community College.
The committee will concern itself with fund-raising activities, related to projects enhancing facilities, equipment or services offered by the school for the benefit of the school community.
Such fund raising activities may be organised by separate sub-committees of the parents association, at least two of whom shall be committee members.
